The confident person is someone with an innately firm attitude which allows them to have a positive and realistic perception of themselves and their abilities. They’re mostly characterized by attributes such as pride, independence, optimism, emotional maturity, and enthusiasm.

Many a times we may have found ourselves in situations whereby we chicken out from certain tasks, we try to make ourselves feel good by living in the contentment that we can never be as good as those who have accomplished the tasks we are about to embark on, little do we know that self-confidence always play a vital role in helping us present ourselves out there.
May be you have a new business idea or you have a well written proposal you would like investors to key in to, but the fear of being laughed at or rejected, sends chills down your spine.

Do you know that great men who achieved greatness were never 100% confident when they started out? It’s that willingness to try and develop confidence bit by bit that helped them in the long run.

One of the greatest things you can have as a person is your mind! Your mind is what drives you to do what you do and be who you are. Your mind is where every idea, every concept, your feelings, your beliefs, your desires, your intentions, and your opinions are first created and conceived.

Your mind is so powerful that though you can’t see it or physical touch it, you’re subconsciously aware that it’s there, a part of you, and it’s an integral ingredient in what makes you YOU!
Most times, we often underrate just how powerful the human mind is. We’re totally oblivious to the fact that, your mind has the power to bring alive anything and whatsoever you program into it. Humans are known to have different personalities and attributes, but it’s our minds that makes us truly stand out and different from any other person out there.

We associate ourselves with various desires such as emotion, greed, love, hatred, joy, anger, but have you ever stopped to think about why you’re so much influenced towards any of these elements? It’s all about what you’re feeding your mind with!
Feed your mind with love and teach it to show compassion to people around and that’s what you’d get. Feed your mind hatred and you’d get pain and hurt. Your mind is constantly working without rest, trying to manifest your strongest desires into action. It feeds on your thoughts and grows like a seed inside of you.

You have to realize that your mind is so powerful that it needs to be trained. Why does your mind need training? Glad you asked – I’ll tell you. The first step to becoming successful in life is to know how to stay focused towards achieving your goals and aspirations. Your mind is the key to all of these. You have to make a decision today to train your subconscious mind to think positively.
Everything you are as a person began with a thought. If you neglect to feed your mind with positivity, you’re only leaving room for negativity and that won’t take you very far in life.

Dare to dream! Dare to imagine! Tame your mind to aim for success and greatness. Every day you wake up, tell yourself that you’re different and you’re successful. Go out there and put in the best effort into whatever you do. Never give up, never give room for negativity. Change your mindset to think positive. Don’t be afraid to imagine. You have so much greatness inside of you and you can’t let negative thoughts get in your way.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER

What will help us make wise choices in life? Often, having sufficient knowledge about a subject matter aids our decision-making process. For instance when contemplating accepting a job offer from another city or state, wouldn’t it be reasonable to first find out details about the job, like: What is the take-home pay? How much travel is involved? What other benefits are attached to the job? Can I get affordable and comfortable accommodation in this new location? Will I need to relocate my family? Being able to provide satisfactory answers to these questions and much more would avert disappointments with the job in the future.
It is also important to consider what effects our decisions can have on others, especially our family and friends. You wouldn’t want to go visiting every drinking parlor in town just because you can or gamble with all your life’s savings simply because it’s your money. Giving careful consideration to the consequences of our actions on others often prevents damaged relationships, loss of trust and feelings of guilt.
While allowing others to decide for us may seem an easy way out, the fact remains that we will have to live with the consequences whether good or bad. Consulting with others is not wrong in itself, and is often encouraged, we do not want to allow others decide for us or pressure us into making wrong decisions.
Another important factor to consider is your personal goal in life. What are you out to achieve? Will following this path bring you closer to achieving your life’s goal? Will you derive satisfaction from following this course or will it lead to future regrets? An honest consideration of the facts will lead to making wiser choices.

LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION

Life can be amazing and should be! We are all endowed with one gift or the other and can find satisfaction in discovering and harnessing them without limits. Certainly, winning at life has a lot to do with the choices we make daily. Often, our present circumstances in life are as a result of our past actions or inactions. The game of life is meant to be played and won. At all times it is important that we set the right goals, make wise choices and win every day and in every way because losing is not an option.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH IN LIFE
Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads and not knowing where to turn or what choices to make? Every day in life we are confronted with choices big or small. From mundane things such as what movies to watch, what clothes to put on or what to eat for breakfast to more serious issues such as choice of marriage mate, where to live, the level of education to pursue or what career path to follow.
For many persons, this could seem overwhelming because they are not used to making personal decisions or often need to consult with others before making certain decisions. If you find yourself in this category, you can at least find comfort in knowing that you have plenty of company.
THE CHALLENGE OF CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH
It is generally agreed upon by many that humans are endowed with free will, unlike animals that are simply guided by instincts. The implication of this is that we have the responsibility to decide for ourselves what to do at any given point in time. On the contrary, it seems animals are simply pre-programmed to act in certain ways without options. However, having freedom of choice doesn’t in any way absolve us from the consequences of our actions, whether good or bad.
It is noteworthy that not all decisions are a matter of life-and-death. While some everyday decisions are very serious, others may not have profound effects on our lives or wellbeing. Still, some of our choices will have far-reaching effects on our lives and those of others.
When we choose the right path, our life often turns out well, with fewer challenges to confront. On the other hand, choosing a wrong course often leads to regrets, disappointments, and problems in the future.

DON’T BE SELF-CENTERED. IT’S NOT GOOD TO BE SELF-CENTERED (IT’S NOT ONLY YOU THAT HAS GOOD OR BAD ISSUES)
Two words that people often use interchangeably are selfish and self-centered. However, there is a significant difference between the two. What exactly does it mean to be self-centered? The dictionary defines being self-centered as Tending to think only about yourself and not thinking about the needs or feelings of other people. Being self-centered is often viewed disapprovingly by society because a level of altruism is necessary for the survival of the human race.
On the other hand, a selfish person lacks consideration for others and is solely concerned with his own personal gain or pleasure. While being self-centered doesn’t mean that a person is necessarily evil, however being self-absorbed leads to isolation and getting ahead of others at all cost.
A self-centered person is not necessarily stingy or evil and may often offer help; however, they put their own opinion ahead of others, not bothered about the feelings of the person they may be trying to assist. A selfish person does not bother to offer help to people.
The effects of the self-centered philosophy of “me-first” are far-reaching indeed. Unfortunately, all of us are affected by the fruits it produces. In the workplace, self-centered people are often a pain in the neck to deal with as they often hush others down, believing their opinions to be superior. Surprisingly though, some career experts prescribe being self-centered as an important factor for career success. No wonder why many persons only look out for themselves. This reasoning is faulty and can erode societal values.
WHY BEING SELF-CENTERED CAN BE PROBLEMATIC
Some persons tend to become self-centered because of personal experiences in life such as; betrayal from a trusted friend or personal disappointments in life. Still, others become self-centered because they have certain talents or skills that make them feel superior to others. It is common with some people to distance themselves from their circle of friends when their ‘status’ in life improves, feeling that they no longer need people around them or they are too busy to be bothered by other people’s concerns.
Feeling that other people should not interfere with your opinions can lead to strained relationships and gradually widen the gap that existed between once close friends. True, we are all entitled to our personal opinions and rights, nevertheless showing consideration for others tends to strain relationships when we push too far.
Some marriages have been torn apart because one member became so engrossed with work rather than giving their mate the attention they deserve. No doubt putting our career ahead of our family may lead to disaster.
Are you facing overly demanding job pressures? Why not speak with others who have learned to strike a life-work balance in order to learn their stress management strategies rather than being pre-occupied with only your career. Others have learned to cope and so will you!

THE IMPORTANCE OF LISTENING
The importance of listening cannot be overemphasised. There’s a saying that Listening is one of the greatest forms of respect a person can give to another, but how true is that? We know that communication is essential in any relationship and our interaction with people, but what defines communication? Two parties talking to each other with none taking in the information being passed? Or a person talking while the receiving party patiently and tolerantly listens?
We find out that when we’re talking and we perceive that we’re being “listened to,” it gives us a feeling of being respected and esteemed, however, do we really know what listening entails? Do we know the difference between listening and hearing? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you.
The art of listening shouldn’t be mistaken with hearing. Hearing is simply the physical ability we’re born with to hear sounds coming from people when they talk to us. Now, listening goes a lot further than that. In the art of listening, we find that we put our full attention in the conversation we’re having, we wait until the speaker may have finished talking before replying. This is done so we can fully understand what the speaker is trying to say and grasp every detail of it.
Just as I said earlier, the importance of listening cannot be overemphasised and here are some of the reasons;
• We Get A Better Understanding Of The Words Spoken To Us.
One good thing about listening is that it doesn’t just end at being able to understand what the speaker is saying. We’re also able to read visual cues which the speaker might be unconsciously displaying, such as facial expressions and body language as this helps us to understand the true meaning behind the words being spoken wholly. This happens to be the full package of the art of listening.
• Listening Helps Build A Strong Relationship, Rapport And Connection With The Speaker.
When we lay back and listen to what other people are saying and not just talking about ourselves all the time, it puts them in an emotional and mental state that’s flowing with positive energy and makes them feel better about themselves. This way, no matter the differences between both parties, there’s the feeling of openness and trust as most people are inclined to trust people who are good listeners. They feel important just knowing you give them your time and feel better about themselves and are very much likely to want to spend time with you and know you better.
We now know the importance of listening to people and not just talking about ourselves all the time, but what actually happens when we are ignorant and don’t listen to others? It’s almost the exact opposite.
You’d agree with me when I say that when we’re not listened to, it affects us in diverse ways such as losing our sense of identity and our sense of always wanting to be acknowledged for the things we do and say. Not being listened to can cause us emotional distress, low self-esteem, and even extending into a full-blown rejection of our self and persona. The list is quite extensive if I must say and a good person would know better than not listening to people when they speak next time.
When we’re ignorant to what other people are saying, they tend to act withdrawn and lose their confidence. They act disconnected because of the feeling of being non-existent and more often than not, their self-esteem drops.
Communication is an essential component in building and maintaining a successful relationship, and it’s not surprising the role listening plays in it.

Begin to contemplate what drives you to do things, look at and take stock of your current and past actions versus your past successes and accomplishments. Use examples of daily deeds that require your natural skills, begin using those skills to create work opportunities, you are probably missing out on a whole bunch of good stuff if you remain stagnant, refusing to come out of your comfort zone.
In whatever you do, maybe it’s a business transaction or the making of new business colleagues; you’ve got to keep your eyes ever wide, open and active. You don’t necessarily have to always have the mentality that someone’s going to rip you off, there’s no need to put yourself through all that stress and anxiety.
In the path to success, only the people who are ever vigilant can make it, and the reasons aren’t far-fetched.
• People that are vigilant in their everyday affairs tend to be more successful, and this is majorly because they are always active, creating awareness on their part, trying to find out what works for them on the path to success and what doesn’t.
• These set of people know the importance of being thorough and well detailed in what they do, they don’t even let the simplest of detail pass them by. This way, they avoid mistakes and seem perfect in their work, making them more and more successful.

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO BE VIGILANT TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL

Have you ever wondered how some people are able to achieve massive amount of success in their chosen fields and endeavours, while some people work just as hard and achieve nothing?
There are of course key factors that certainly can help people achieve their goals. However, there is just one key ingredient that goes into success that simply can’t be overemphasised, and that’s vigilance.
Success can be defined in many ways by dozens of people. I prefer to view success as a worthwhile journey whose reward is evident as a result of embarking on, staying the course, and completing that journey. Vigilance requires a more careful approach, paying full attention to detail and always being on your toes, watching and ready to go against whatever task the competition may have set.
To be successful, it’s very important to be vigilant in what you do and watch the kind of attention you attract. You have to be the biggest consultant of yourself before making any decisions or allowing the advice, input or opinion of anyone else to penetrate your heart.
In the pursuit of success, one has to be on their toes, in fervent vigilance, why you may ask? I’ll tell you. In whatever you do, information is key. Is it to outshine your competition, or give you an edge in whatever business venture you’re into, that’s what vigilance can get you. It doesn’t just stop at being careful and critically analysing your every move. It goes on to you keeping yourself abreast with every information that you could possibly lay hands on in regards to your success, keeping yourself updated, staying vigilant so as not to allow any information pertaining to your success pass you by.

SETTING GOALS AND COMPLETING VISIONS

Goal Setting is quite an interesting topic of conversation that centres on personal development, self-discipline and self-improvement. It comes as no surprise that a lot of people talk about goals but never end up setting them. Why is this you may ask? Well, there are a couple of reasons why people fail to set goals talk more of achieving them.

Let’s take a look at what goal setting mean. Goal setting involves you as a person establishing a specific, achievable and relevant objective under a given period. We must understand that the setting of goals requires focus coupled with diligence and it takes an added effort to successfully accomplish a goal.

It’s pretty obvious to see how goal setting and the completing of visions relate. We know that visions involve being able to think or plan for the future with imagination and wisdom.

A lot of people fail to set goals mostly because they don’t know how. They never thought to learn the techniques involved in goal setting. You can start by taking a pen out and writing out what you want to accomplish, your goals and the time you intend on completing them. Here, your imagination and thinking play a significant role.

I realized that most people mix up and confuse goal setting and vision statement. Let’s take embarking on a trip for example;

  • Vision: A vision sets in place the whole idea of you embarking on a trip. It helps give you a mental note or picture of what the trip should entail.
  • Goal: A goal deals with critical decisions you make in regards to the trip. Should you embark on the trip or should you not? Should you fly or drive? Setting your mind on some activities you’d love to do while you’re there, the results and what you should be able to accomplish at the end.

Another reason why people end up not setting goals is that they try to avoid it. They prefer to solve a problem rather than make plans for a goal. Why? It’s simply because most people never try to envision themselves from a new perspective. They are scared of creating a vision and don’t want to imagine and think of the future.

But then, just writing down your goals isn’t enough when you have to complete them. You have to use the power of your mind to imagine all the outcomes and probabilities that might happen from every single decision you make when setting a goal up to how and the time in which you would accomplish it. Refine and evaluate your visions and try to relate it to your goals. Once you have done that, make an effort to identify the steps needed for the achievement of that goal.

The setting of goals and completing of visions are like two sides of a coin. You lay your sights on a vision in your mind and then by setting a goal; you are trying to bring that imagination or dream to reality.

You may think its normal to be pessimistic but you should know that your thoughts are like a small seed which can grow out of proportions and manifest itself in your life and influence your everyday actions and decisions.
If you feed your mind with negative and pessimistic thoughts, there’s always the tendency that you are laying the foundation of self-doom and failure in your life.

The kind of mindset you have towards your career can also affect you; always thinking negatively can rub off on other people.

People in positions of help may turn you down, people may gradually begin to desert you and your social life will become a mess.
Your thoughts and mindset is sacred, guard it. If you’re a person that’s aiming to achieve success in life, you’ll want to begin thinking positively for a start. Your mindset impacts your consciousness one way or the other.

The stories behind great and successful people like Nelson Mandela and Oprah Winfrey gives us a lot to take home. These are people that came through regardless of the circumstances they found themselves in. They had full control over the kind of thoughts that went through their minds every day.

They were ever conscious of the fact that their thoughts were instrumental if they ever wanted to make it, and then they learnt to harness it. They taught themselves to believe in themselves and in things they wanted. This is where many people go wrong, they are afraid to imagine and most of all, they are afraid to believe in themselves. Thinking positively or negatively goes a long way in determining if you’ll achieve your dreams or not.

1. Believe in yourself: Never let what people say about you get to you. Always believe in yourself, this is the first step in improving your thoughts and mindset towards things.

2. Visualise your dreams and aspirations: Someone who thinks negatively never takes the time out to dream and have aspirations because they believe that nothing good ever comes out of what they do. You must change that; work on yourself, open your mind, have a goal in life and work towards achieving it. This helps to put you on the right track and keeps you determined and focused on something.

3. Refrain yourself from thinking negatively: It may not be easy at first but you must learn that negative thoughts corrupt your mind. They have the tendency to manifest in your daily actions if not checked. Try to always think positive. Appreciate yourself always. Keep your mind focused on things that are fruitful and rewarding.
